    Genesis

Kendriya Vidyalaya Leh, inaugurated in 1983 under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner Leh, commenced its noble educational journey within the humble confines of a modest edifice graciously provided by the State government. Fast forward to the year 2001, a significant milestone was achieved as the institution gracefully transitioned to its permanent abode, nestled amidst a breathtaking 166-acre expanse along the picturesque Choglamsar road, majestically positioned opposite HIMANK, a mere 4 kilometers distant from Leh’s bustling Main Market and KBR Leh Airport.

Presently, Kendriya Vidyalaya Leh stands as a beacon of erudition and enlightenment, boasting a single section from classes Balavatika III to X and triple sections in classes XI and XII encompassing the realms of Science, Commerce, and Humanities. The Vidyalaya proudly enrolls a diverse cohort, extending its tutelage not only to the progeny of government officials and defense personnel but also to the indigenous populace and transient denizens of this frigid desert milieu.

The institution’s pedagogical prowess is underscored by its state-of-the-art amenities, including two lavishly appointed computer laboratories, meticulously outfitted scientific laboratories, and a dedicated resource enclave, all harmonizing seamlessly to furnish an uninterrupted academic odyssey and comprehensive scholastic development for its esteemed wards.
